Tree Care Across Penetanguishene
Waterfront lots and big maples and oaks set close to houses mean a lot of rope work and careful pruning here.
We come over from Tiny Township, next door, and work in Penetang, ON all year. If you want the full picture of what we offer, start with our tree crew from neighbouring Tiny Township.
When the Town Needs a Permit
The town has its own tree rules, and they catch many waterfront properties. The Town's Tree Protection By-law 2024-02 applies to any waterfront lot and any lot of 0.5 hectares or more.
- any tree over 30 cm in diameter
- five or more trees of 15 to 30 cm at once, or the fifth in a calendar year
- trees in a woodland
- trees on municipal property
On those lots, a permit is needed before cutting any of the above. Trees owned by the Town are pruned and removed by Public Works under the Town's Tree Policy. We check which rules apply before we quote, so you're not caught out.
Penetang Tree Removal and Pruning
After the 2025 ice storm, the Town received a Hydro One Ice Storm 2025 Recovery grant to help clean up its parks and trails. Trees that came through it can still have cracked limbs or hangers caught in the crown, and those can drop months later. A look from the ground usually tells us whether a tree needs a trim or has to come down.
On sloped yards, we plan where each piece lands before cutting, and lower wood on ropes when it can't roll or drop safely.
Who to Call About Lines
Penetanguishene's power is delivered by Alectra Utilities, according to a Town outage notice covering about 5,400 Alectra customers in town. If a branch is on a wire, call Alectra first; once the line is safe, we'll deal with the tree.

Before We Come Out
Do you work in Penetang?+
Yes. Call (249) 559-1372.
Do I need a town permit to cut a tree?+
On waterfront lots and lots of 0.5 hectares or more, yes for any tree over 30 cm across, or for five or more trees of 15 to 30 cm at once. That's under the Town's Tree Protection By-law 2024-02, and we'll check whether it applies before we quote.
Can you work on a town-owned tree?+
No. Under the Town's Tree Policy, pruning and removal of Town trees is handled by Public Works or its contractors, so contact the Town about those.
How much does tree work cost?+
Typical removals run $200 to $2,000 per tree, averaging about $850 and trims $200 to $800 or more per tree, based on HomeStars' 2026 Canada-wide cost guide. Big shoreline trees near a house cost more.
Do you work in winter?+
Yes, through the whole winter. Frozen ground is often the easiest time to get equipment onto a sloped or soft waterfront lot.
